Hit the road Jack
On our long ride from Nashville to Atlanta we decided to stop at the “Jack Daniel’s” Tennessee Whiskey Distillery, located in a small town called Lynchburg. This town is probably a typical small southern town where most people know each other and many fathers and sons work at the Distillery. They are welcoming, just as you would imagine southern hospitality, and are proud of their tradition that Jack Daniel had started – making Whiskey the right way with no compromises. Jack Daniel’s story is quite interesting and so is the story of his business, but the impressing thing is the familial approach of the employees that feel it’s a very important job, and taste every Whiskey in order to assure it’s ready, because as they mentioned – “What others call quality control we call pride and family tradition” – that’s their idea of makin’ Whiskey. The tour guide that we heard speaking seemed like a southern guy from the movies – with a heavy accent, overall jeans and a large cowboy’s hat. At the entrance of Georgia we met a nice lady, who works at the “subway” sandwiches where we stopped for a snack. She shared with us her experiences as a mom. Her oldest son is 14, though she doesn’t seem a lot older than we are. Anyway, this was another window to the simple religious lives people live around here- authentic and all American. We love the music and the accents and already have our favorite country songs – “Should’a been a cowboy”, “courtesy of red white and blue” and “she thinks my tracktor’s sexy” These folks are pretty funny around here.
