Going to the Mid-West

Today was a drive day from Buffalo to Cleveland, the first half of the day we drove along Rt 5 which follows Lake Erie, for lunch we stopped at Dunkirk, a small town on the lake. There was happening on the harbor with live music and lots of people (well, lot of people in Dunkirk is around 300, but it was nice). After Dunkirk we hit I-90 all the way to Cleveland area.

We finally have left the "east" and arrived to the "Mid-West", well we are not sure if it is anything different but it feels more "homey" around here, we’ll see tomorrow when we travel in Cleveland.

We are staying at Beachwood, this is a very nice area, apparently with a large Jewish community, there was a Bar-Mitzvah at the hotel where we are staying, there is a big Jewish heritage museum here, and a JCC (with Kosher Subway !!).

The hotel is sweat but the room is on the smaller side, especially after we had that big suite in Buffalo. After check-in we went to the Wholefoods supermarket to buy some food for Omri and then we tried our luck at the Cheesecake…again… and there was a long line…again…, so we took something from the restaurants near the hotel.

That’s it for today…

People! Come to cleveland

Today we missed breakfast, again, but fortunately there is a Starbucks just 2 mins drive from the Hotel...

We drove to Cleveland which is a short drive from Beachwood. The city looks really nice, downtown is quite modern and clean and no punks on the street were spotted... actually no people were spotted at all! what's going on with Cleveland? is the city closed on Sunday?! well looks like it.

We entered the city via the Indians ballpark (Cleveland baseball team) ON a game-day and it was empty, I thought that maybe it's too early. On the way out from the city, just 2-3 hours before game starts it still was empty, it's amazing, try coming to Boston on Sunday on game-day and the city is packed with fans, no way you could drive freely near Fenway, someone needs to wake up those Cleveland people...

Anyway, we were at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, it was very interesting with original items belonging to some rock stars (like the uniform of the Beatles, Freddie Mercury clothes from tours, Elvis car etc).

After the museum we looked for a place to hang around in Cleveland, but as you know by now the city is closed on the weekend, so we drove back to Beachwood (which is VERY nice and upscale area) and went to the JCC where we had Kosher subs, and Omri took some slides at the playground.

That's it for today...
